This is my friend and neighbor Phat Vu or “Sam” for short. Sam has an amazing story we should all appreciate. He joined the US Military at age 17 in Vietnam as an interpreter. After the war the North Vietnamese captured him and placed him in a P.O.W. Camp for 6yrs.
After his release, he reunited with his wife and daughter in the United States. Since then Sam had three sons and all of his children are amazingly successful Americans.
His eldest daughter owns multiple Nail salons throughout Charlotte. His eldest son is a Dentist and his two youngest sons are in finance. All four have four year college degrees with zero school loans and own their own homes. In fact, one of his sons owns a McLaren 720s for you car junkies out there.
I am forever grateful to Sam and his mentorship. He’s taught me that hard work, family values, and philanthropy make life meaningful.
I had the opportunity to share one last meal with Sam in his home yesterday before my family and I depart to DC.
Sam, you are true patriot and brother, and I will always cherish our relationship.
